3J's is a place where people can meet a friend, play a game of chess or foosball, have a latte, showcase their talent on Open Mic Night, hold a meeting, have a prayer need met, do homework, or just plain relax.
The youth and adult concerts feature national recording artists including Dove and Grammy award winners. It has been an overwhelming success, and 3J's is developing a national reputation of integrity and ministry with the artists. The focus has primarily been directed towards the youth, although all ages have enjoyed the coffeehouse since its opening in 1999. As the ministry continues to grow, the needs grow also. 3J's needs people like you that are committed to praying and standing with us in faith—and for contributing time, expertise, and financial support. By working together, we will see this expanded ministry become a reality.
Project Description
The primary focus of 3J's is to make available to young people in Northern Colorado:
The opportunity to develop an interest in the musical arts through weekend concerts, and
A showcase for local talent on Open Mic Nights.
These events provide outreach to band members, teens and adults, and are a unique way in which 3J's contributes to the youth community's participation in cultural arts and personal development.
3J's is an environment that involves hands-on relationships with the artists. Young adults can relate to artists they look to as role models by meeting and talking with them. National band members that have performed at 3J's have expressed gratitude that the coffeehouse is setting the standard for teen centers encouraging the arts.
Testimonial / Activities
The most rewarding definition of 3J's success comes from the many testimonials of how 3J's has touched people's lives, making a real difference in our community. For example in January 2002, prior to joining the United States Navy, Whitney (age 18) wrote, "You have touched my life and I wanted to tell you I'm extremely thankful. . . I don't know where I would be today if it weren't for people like you knowing there is something more [to me] than just some kid who was screwed up for awhile. People really need a place like 3J's, especially now. Don't give up on the dream."
Some activities that take place at 3J's include but are not limited to concerts, open mic night, bible studies, youth group meetings, and 5th Quarter which is a time after high school football games when kids can fellowship, mess around, and enjoy a cup o' java.
